Who We Are:

Chapel Grove Films is owned by David W. Richardson. (IMDB)

David W. Richardson is a writer, producer and director.  He wrote and produced the short films Three Wishes and A Matter of Life..., as well as the vampire short Night Watch, which marked his directorial debut.

Moving on to feature-length movies, David penned the story on which the horror feature Blood Bath is based.  He also produced the romantic ghost story feature Afterlife, which is based on his original story.  Check out the IMDB listing for Afterlife here, or watch the trailer on YouTube.

The unique suspense/drama Tangled Web is the first feature-length script David has written in its entireity.  It's also his first feature as a director.  Tangled Web is a story told from the point-of-view of webcams attached to the computers of the main characters.  The whole movie was originally shot in just two days.  (IMDB)  If you want to see a few photos from the production, click here.

Chapel Grove Films made its first foray into music videos with a video for the song "As Long As It Ain't Here", by Wink Keziah & Delux Motel.  See the video on YouTube.

Future projects include yet another unique webcam-themed suspense/thriller -- called The Circle -- as well as numerous other projects that run the gamut from romantic comedy to supernatural thriller.

Our ultimate goal is to be able to find the financing needed for our first truly major motion picture -- the romantic comedy A Scottish Fling -- which is in the vein of My Big, Fat Greek Wedding.  (Only better!)

Chapel Grove Films works with other filmmakers in the Charlotte area, including writer/producer/director Vanelle as well as Shane Gill from Visceral Films.  As always, our goal is to make movies that are great entertainment, but with modest budgets.

What We Do:

Currently, Chapel Grove Films is making digital feature films using advanced 24p digital technology.  Our current features Afterlife and Tangled Web were shot using a Panasonic AG-DVX100a 24p digital video camera.  It's the same kind of camera that was used to shoot the Courtney Cox movie November, as well as other feature films.  We will be using that same camera for several of our upcoming projects.

In the future we're planning a feature that will be shot on the highly advanced Panasonic Varicam HD camera.  HD features include the recent successful indie Open Water, which played in theaters around the country and is now available on DVD.

In the long term, our goal is to build a whole moviemaking industry based right here in Charlotte, NC -- full blown studios turning out top quality theatrical release movies using a combination of local talent and big Hollywood names.  We don't believe you have to go to Hollywood to make great movies.  We've got talented folks right in our own back yard.  Working together, we can build a great movie industry in the Carolinas.

That's our goal!
